Might the tide be turning...see SJ Merc article

Todays article from the San Jose Mercury News contains a lot of truth. Is there the passion for Meg Whitman, or are the poll numbers based upon $30 million of slander? Might it be the truth overcoming the slander??? http://www.mercurynews.com/peninsula/ci_15019418?nclick_check=1

The truth of the matter is that as a voting public we should expect more debates, better press coverage of the facts, and less dependence on 30 second ads.

Because the proof will be in the pudding. Who would you expect to best lead our state back to financial stability? I think the person who is much more willing to reach out and share his ideas and positions to the press and general public.

Go Steve!

Why I think Steve Poizner should be the next Governor

I first met Steve Poizner back in 1981. I can honestly say that there is no one that I have ever met with the inner drive, conviction and honesty that Steve possesses. In those early years of Steve’s career (both professionally and a part of a community service organization together) I have seen his amazing ability to create magic with his personality and honest conviction.

I was able to work with him to run three annual successful outdoor comedy events in the South Bay that helped raise over $20,000 for the Stanford Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to help premature babies. Steve was the vision and the driving force to create a unique event that saw over 50 comedians participate and was enjoyed by thousands of comedy fans.

I have seen him as President, lead a local chapter of the Jaycees to three-fold membership growth, run more community service projects and touch more lives than ever before, and almost single-handedly open nationwide Jaycee membership within this organization to all young people when the national organization tried to restrict membership to women.

I have seen him incubate a startup company in his home for a year to create a new and ground breaking PC product with three people and an idea of his. It is one thing to say you were a member of a startup company, but it is another to start a company from scratch with just your personal savings, an idea and inner confidence.

When the local chapter of the Jaycees that he and I were past president of was on the brink of extinction, I was proud to step up when he asked group of friends to help to bring the chapter back. I then saw Steve create the most amazing speaker program where he drew in speakers like past 49ers coach Bill Walsh, the Attorney General of the United States Dick Thornburgh, sports agent Leigh Steinberg, movie director John Landis (Animal House) and Congressman Tom Campbell. Only the Commonwealth Club had the variety of topical speakers that Steve set up.

I do not want to sink to Meg Whitman’s personal slanderous campaign levels. I was appalled as a registered California Republican to receive in the mail a series of hit pieces that were so fundamentally misleading and laden with false accusations that I personally wanted to blast both her and her campaign in the local media.

But I did not need to. Meg who hid behind her millions of dollars, showed her true colors in the recently televised debate. Her commitment to government in the past was endorsement based upon what was best for her personal fortune and her shareholders best interest. She could not even feel remorse for the sweet-heart IPO deals she was granted as a board member of Goldman Sachs’ board. The multi-million dollar investment in smear was obviously needed to create an “insurmountable” lead, because every time she spoke she needed to remove one foot to insert the golden slipper that adorning her other foot.

But mostly, I saw the amazingly gifted public speaker and compassionate leader who I believe is the only candidate of the three leading contenders that can really, truly right the direction of the great state that we call our own. The same person I first met almost 29 years ago, who continues to impress all that meet him.

Good luck Steve….
